Golden memories sometimes need a bit of golden shimmer and what better way but to add a bit of this shimmer to your eyes? Golden eyeshadow is our current favorite look as it is the perfect balance between just a tad bits of pop of color that defines your eyes, to glamour that would make you the soul of the party. It also brilliantly goes on different skin tones, making you all aglow just with few strikes of the brush. Wondering how to get these golden eyes? Here’s a step by step guide to get that golden look.
Step One
To prep your eyes, clean them to perfection to ensure there is no traces of makeup residue. Once the eyes are cleaned off, moisturize the outer lids with Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado. This product is our personal favorite as it has hydrating factors that suits well to the delicate area around your eyes, due to the presence of Avocado oil, which is gentle on the skin. It is also made of a concentrated texture that ensures it does not spread into the eyes and is suitable for sensitive skin. Using a moisturizer reduces the puffiness of the eyes and would prepare your eyes for the makeup that follows.
Step Two
We would need an eye concealer next so that the veins around your eyes could be covered well and we could have an even tone of the skin around the eyes, which would make applying the eyeshadow far easier. We chose L.A. Girl Cosmetics Pro Conceal HD Concealer which contains micro-pigments that provide a great coverage and gives a high definition finish to the eyes, making them look flawless. This product has a long-wearing formula which helps to have the eye-makeup untarnished for hours. It also comes with Vitamin C and E along with chamomile extract which is gentle on the skin and effectively camouflages darkness, redness around the eyes. Lightly dot the area around your eyes and blend well for maximum coverage.
Step Three
Next up, apply your golden eye shadow. For those of you who have not had tried metallic shades and are going to experiment, we recommend Gold Metallic Eye Shadow Pen for you. Not only does it come in an easy to apply pen shaped format, it also has a soft texture to it that makes it easier to blend in. The strong metallic eye color is pearlized and has a metallic sheen to its finish. This eye-shadow does not smudge easy. While applying the eye shadow, be mindful of not crossing the crease line.
Step Four
Use a fluffy eye shadow brush to blend it well ensuring that the harsh lines are not visible. We chose Niré Beauty Professional Makeup Brushes which are made with cruelty-free fiber and are gentle on all skin types. Blend the eyeshadow previously applied to create a smoother finish.
Step Five
Use a highlighter to add dimensions along your brow bone. Make a sweeping line and blend it well. By highlighting the brow bone, you end up adding more definition and dimension to the face, making the eye shadow look stand out further. For highlighting, we have used Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand Highlighter which is a high-gloss liquid applicator. It comes with a highlighter wand which makes it easier for you to apply and blend through the sponge applicator. It is devoid of sulfates and parabens, making it a skin friendly product that would not cause any reaction on the skin. Due to the presence of the soft focus formula that is included, and pearlescent gold pigments that are infused in it, you would get a natural and seamlessly beautiful glow.
Step Six
A golden eyeshadow look is not complete without a dark eyeliner that stands in contrast and brings out the eyes even more beautifully, by defining them. We have used Rimmel – Scandal eyes Precision Eyeliner which is a liquid eyeliner that comes with a 3D tip, which makes it easier to apply it across the eyes. RImmel eyeliner is our personal choice for it is easier to apply, and gives a smooth line with a couple of free hand strokes. It is also suitable for long hour wear and stays up to 24 hours. It is also waterproof, making it suitable for all kinds of weather and conditions including heat, humidity and even perspiration. Line your eyes with the eyeliner based upon how you would want the look to be. Go for a thinner line if you want it to be subtle. To add more drama and character to the look, we recommend you to draw a thicker line along your eyes. Step Seven
Now that we have figured out the eye makeup, time to finish the look by choosing a lip color that complements it. Nothing beats nude shades especially when you choose to brighten up your eye-makeup. Our favorite pick is Maybelline’s Superstay Matte Ink Longlasting liquid Brown Nude Lipstick. Apply a coat of this lipstick post exfoliating and moisturizing your lips.
