That time of the year is here when all you want to do is to just pack your bags and leave for a vacation. However, we hear a lot about concerns circling around packing makeup products. We hear you! We all have been in this place where we would want to take loads of pictures that are ‘gram worthy. Yet, we would want to pack light especially if we are going backpacking. While we were making a list, we were divided about the choice of products and decided to share two different looks curated by our editors. This list is curated by Abhi, whose idea of vacation is going to a beach or any where which feels like an eternal summer. If you resonate with her, this one is for you!

6 Essential products to carry

BB Cream

Summer is the season where you can do away with the heavy foundations that you got stocked up. If you want to travel light, go for a BB Cream which can be a great replacement and would actually do the job of evening out your complexion and provides you full coverage without looking cakey. We prefer packing a BB cream for how light it feels on the skin. If you plan to travel to sunnier locations, the likes of South East Asia, or even travel locally in this heat wave (What’s up climate change!), a BB cream would be your trusted companion.

Rimmel London BB Cream has been our recent favorite since it comes up with SPF 15, protecting your skin from the Sun. Additionally, it moisturizes your skin and provides a smoother finish. It is suitable for everyday wear and is easier to carry around as well.

If you are really concerned about not wearing a foundation, you can choose a lightweight one. More about foundations based on your skin tone could be found here. However, given the current season, we would rather go light with a BB cream.

Matte Powder

Since we picked a BB cream earlier, we recommend pairing it up with a Matte face powder, so that it would even out the excessive shininess off the face. While a matte powder does help keeping it light and giving your skin a great finish, be mindful of selecting the one that suits your skin type. Pick a translucent matte powder so that it blends easily with the BB cream and looks invisible but also sets the look right. One of our favorite picks is L’Oreal Paris’ True Match Pressed Powder Foundation which is buildable and has a Matte Finish. It is lightweight and comes in a compact size with a mirror and an applicator that is easy to carry around and helps with an on-the-go application.

Eyeshadow palette

Eyeshadow palette is perhaps one of the key products that could change your look within minutes. If you want to chill by the beach during the day, and want to be ready to rock a party by the night, an eyeshadow palette is essential and is so diverse that it can take care of the diversity of your makeup looks. We recommend Urban Decay’s Naked Reloaded Eyeshadow Palette. It comes with 12 Warm Neutral Shades for any Occasion with both Matte & Metallic Finishes that will keep you ready for all looks of your vacation. Either you want a sober look or you want to pair up the metallic finishes with a dark liner, you can experiment with as many looks as possible with this eyeshadow palette.

Waterproof Mascara

Pick up a decent waterproof mascara that would go well with all of your looks but also would withstand you from sweat, water and tears (?), although we recommend to avoid the last one in your vacation. Jokes apart, avoid clumpy mascara and anything that would make your lashes stick together and make you feel heavy. We recommend Extreme Black Estee Lauder Mascara which adds rich volume to your lashes but is still light on your lashes and would not feel clumpy. What’s better is that it is long lasting and comes in darker shades which will make your eyes pop up and look bigger than they are.

Travel Makeup brushes

A mini travel kit of brushes is the easiest to carry around for vacations as it would also be light on your packing. For those of you who do not want to take too many, and would rather stick to the basics, we would recommend you to still carry a slanted brush, which would come handy when you use your eye-shadow and need an eye-liner effect for it. An eyeshadow brush is also something that you must pack. Since you have packed a BB cream and matte powder applicator, you can pack a foundation applicator brush as well. We would still recommend to invest in a travel size makeup brushes that come in a little pouch of a tube which would be easier for you to carry around. One of our favorite products is Eigshow Travel Makeup Brush Set. It is made of Extra-soft Synthetic Fibers for all of its brushes which could be used to apply powder, blush, concealers, contouring and Highlighting/Blending Applications. This product is also Vegan and is made with premium materials that would make the application a smoother process.

Tinted lip balm with SPF

SPF lip balm is our absolute favorite to pick especially while travelling since we subject ourselves to such different conditions and climates. Be it exposing to the Sun, the wind or dry air from flights and the AC in hotels, it is essential to take care of lips from getting chapped and dry. Having a tinted lip balm with SPF helps in protecting them with hydration and sun protection. At the same time, the tint would add a bit of color which would add to the look of your day even when you want to go subtle with your looks.

We recommend Sun Bum SPF 30 Pomegranate Sunscreen Lip Balm. This product is Vegan and Cruelty free and comes up with a broad Spectrum of UVA/UVB Lip Care that protects your lips from sensitivity from the heat. It is also made with Aloe and Vitamin E for providing more moisturized lips.
