With all the hype around foundations, there are still days where you would not want to go overboard and want to stick to the basics. Foundation is one such makeup product which has a reputation of being over done sometimes, since it could turn up cakey if you do not pick the right product that suits your skin. For those of you, who would want to prep their skin and still want to have a full coverage, but would not want to use a foundation cream, BB cream is a great replacement.
BB Cream is one of our favorite go to products for days we want to keep it simple and want to go for a more natural look. This is for you if you do not want a porcelain finish but would want to retain the dewy freshness of your skin.
As a product that was conceptualized as a substitute coverage cream for foundation, especially for patients that have a sensitive skin post undergoing intensive skin treatments, BB cream is a powerhouse that strikes a balance between providing coverage and being sensitive to the skin.
What is a BB Cream?
A “Blemish Balm” or “Blemish Base” or popularly called as a BB cream is an alternative to your regular foundation. It is used to provide coverage on the skin. It is preferred over since it is lightweight and is often non-allergenic. It is also used as a multipurpose cream since it can be used as a primer, moisturizer, and concealer and even has SPF in some of the products. This is because it helps hydrate your skin, conceals blemishes, soothes inflamed skin, protects your skin from the Sun due to the presence of SPF and acts as a perfect blend between a skincare and a makeup product. It is light to pack and skips several steps of your makeup routine and perfect to pack for your vacation if you want to travel light. More about that is discussed here.
When to use a BB Cream?
Easy! If you want to opt for a natural makeup look, or on the days you do not want to be weighed down by heavy makeup such as foundation or when you are feeling lazy to go through all of your makeup routine, you can switch to a BB cream. BB cream is the one stop solution for days when you want to light up your complexion and have a tinted glow, along with evening out your skin tone.
How to use a BB Cream?
Step One: Take a bit of BB cream, just a pea-sized amount of it on to the back of your palm.
Step Two: Apply this cream with the tip of your finger in dots all over the face. Since we aim for an overall coverage across the face, apply smaller blobs across the face.
Step Three: Spread the blobs into application starting from your forehead and move towards nose, cheeks and further down to chin. Go for gentle outward strokes using a makeup sponge to spread them evenly across your face.
Step Four: Done! You can continue with further steps of your makeup routine.
BB creams based on your skin type

However, it does not leave a greasy residue like other products which have SPF formula generally do. It also does a great job in offering great coverage for redness, dilated pores and discolorations.
BB Cream for Sensitive skin type
For sensitive skin type, we pick Nude by Nature BB cream. This BB cream provides a sheer glow and is the champion of being an all-in-one BB cream. It helps in moisturizing and hydrating your skin. It is also dermatologist tested and is inarguably suitable for sensitive skin. It also comes with an SPF 8 and provides a natural tan. Due to the presence of silicones, it provides a smooth texture on the skin. The ingredients are handpicked to ensure your skin is moisturized and hydrated. The SPF inclusion is to help protect your skin and create a protective barrier against environmental elements that could aggravate your skin’s condition. It also blends with skin quite easily by making your skin come alive, although it does not clog your pores.
BB Cream for Normal skin type
Our choice for normal skin type is Garnier BB Cream. This cream is perfect for days where you want to have bare minimum makeup products on you but still protect your skin and provide maximum coverage. Just a pea-sized of Garnier BB cream acts as a moisturizing cream, hydrates and protects your skin, brightens and provides even tone to your entire face. And also used to clear up the skin faster. In addition to it being the solution to temporary glow, due to the presence of minerals, it also combats dullness of the skin that is usually caused by free radical damage and leaves the skin with a glowing complexion in the long run.
